And he struck some of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they looked upon the ark of the Lord. He struck seventy men of them, and the people mourned because the Lord had struck the people with a great blow.Then the men of Beth-shemesh said,“ Who is able to stand before the Lord, this holy God? Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.

The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.Mankind will say,“ Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

As for the head of those who surround me, let the mischief of their lips overwhelm them!

Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!

For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction.And as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no spirit left in any man because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.

So now, O Lord our God, save us, please, from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, O Lord, are God alone.”

And the word of the Lord will be to them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little, that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

And Adoni-bezek said,“ Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off used to pick up scraps under my table. As I have done, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
