the taunts with which your enemies, Lord, have mocked, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.

Lord, your enemies have said mean things. They have laughed at everything your anointed king has done.

with which your enemies mock, O Lord, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed.

With which Your enemies have taunted, Lord, With which they have taunted the footsteps of Your anointed.

Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O Jehovah, Wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

Your enemies, O LORD, hurl insults; they insult your chosen king as they dog his footsteps.

With which your enemies have mocked, Yahweh, with which they have mocked the footsteps of your anointed one.

He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. Interlude My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness.

If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs.But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!

Some were jeered at, and their backs were cut open with whips. Others were chained in prisons.

who declared,“ This man said,‘ I am able to destroy the Temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said,“ No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”

“ Get out of here, you murderer, you scoundrel!” he shouted at David.“ The Lord is paying you back for all the bloodshed in Saul’s clan. You stole his throne, and now the Lord has given it to your son Absalom. At last you will taste some of your own medicine, for you are a murderer!”

They are always twisting what I say; they spend their days plotting to harm me.They come together to spy on me— watching my every step, eager to kill me.

God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.“ God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.

Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things.

The people retorted,“ You Samaritan devil! Didn’t we say all along that you were possessed by a demon?”

We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us.We appeal gently when evil things are said about us. Yet we are treated like the world’s garbage, like everybody’s trash— right up to the present moment.

How long, O God, will you allow our enemies to insult you? Will you let them dishonor your name forever?

The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.
