For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of armies will accomplish this.

concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh,who was declared the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,

And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers,that God has fulfilled this promise to those of us who are the descendants by raising Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm:‘ You are My Son; today I have fathered You.’As for the fact that He raised Him from the dead, never again to return to decay, He has spoken in this way:‘ I will give you the holy and faithful mercies of David.’Therefore, He also says in another Psalm:‘ You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.’For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, fell asleep, and was buried among his fathers and underwent decay;but He whom God raised did not undergo decay.

Again Isaiah says,“ There shall come the root of Jesse, And He who arises to rule over the Gentiles, In Him will the Gentiles hope.”

I will sing of the graciousness of the Lord forever; To all generations I will make Your faithfulness known with my mouth.

But He said to them,“ How is it that they say the Christ is David’s son?For David himself says in the book of Psalms,‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit at My right hand,Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” ’Therefore David calls Him‘ Lord,’ and so how is He his son?”

And now, may it please You to bless the house of Your servant, so that it may continue forever before You. For You, Lord God, have spoken; and with Your blessing may the house of Your servant be blessed forever.”
