I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;

Then I will punish them for their sins. I will strike them with a rod. I will whip them for their evil acts.

For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Let him take his rod away from me, and let not dread of him terrify me.

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline or be weary of his reproof,for the Lord reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.

So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and did not wholly follow the Lord, as David his father had done.

“ You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

And the Lord raised up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite. He was of the royal house in Edom.

But now go, lead the people to the place about which I have spoken to you; behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit, I will visit their sin upon them.”

But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged.But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
