The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke:“ One of your own descendants I will place on your throne. (niv)

And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginningand have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies.“‘ The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you:When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.’” (niv)

“ This is what the Lord says:‘ If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time,then my covenant with David my servant— and my covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before me— can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne. (niv)

And a voice from heaven said,“ This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (niv)

‘ Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, but I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’ (niv)

Instead, they will serve the Lord their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them. (niv)

But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. (niv)

I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness— and I will not lie to David— (niv)

“ Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations. (niv)

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” (niv)

You have renounced the covenant with your servant and have defiled his crown in the dust. (niv)

but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:“ The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind:‘ You are a priest forever.’” (niv)

“ If my house were not right with God, surely he would not have made with me an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part; surely he would not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire. (niv)

He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; (niv)

Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. (niv)

May God deal with Abner, be it ever so severely, if I do not do for David what the Lord promised him on oath (niv)

Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days. (niv)

I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail. (niv)
