While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God.

Lord, in distress we searched for you. We prayed beneath the burden of your discipline.

But I called on your name, Lord, from deep within the pit.You heard me when I cried,“ Listen to my pleading! Hear my cry for help!”Yes, you came when I called; you told me,“ Do not fear.”

But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice.He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me.

When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn. Wherever I go, my enemies have set traps for me.
