in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts.

For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

And again, Isaiah says,“ The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope.”May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.

I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.

The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.

Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees.I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.

“ Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”

What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory—even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
