上帝歟、驕傲之輩、起而攻我、強暴之黨、索我之命、目中無爾兮、

上帝兮、驕矜之輩、起而叛余、強悍之黨、謀害我命、彼不敬畏爾兮。

天主歟、驕傲之人、群起攻擊我、強橫之黨類、欲索我命、彼皆目中無天主、

驕人悻悻。逞其狂傲。群逆結黨。恣其凶暴。目中無主。哀哉不肖。

Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me— they have no regard for you.

God, proud people are attacking me. A gang of mean people is trying to kill me. They don’t care about you.

O God, insolent people rise up against me; a violent gang is trying to kill me. You mean nothing to them.

God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men intends to kill me. They do not let you guide them.

God, arrogant men have risen up against me, And a gang of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set You before them.

O God, the proud have risen against me, And a mob of violent men have sought my life, And have not set You before them.

O God, the proud are risen up against me, And a company of violent men have sought after my soul, And have not set thee before them.

God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men seeks my life. They have no regard for You.

O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent[ men] have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.

O God, arrogant men attack me; a gang of ruthless men, who do not respect you, seek my life.

The insolent have dug pitfalls for me; they do not live according to your law.

Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

He says in his heart,“ God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel,“ Give your counsel. What shall we do?”Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Go in to your father’s concubines, whom he has left to keep the house, and all Israel will hear that you have made yourself a stench to your father, and the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.”So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof. And Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.Now in those days the counsel that Ahithophel gave was as if one consulted the word of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel esteemed, both by David and by Absalom.Moreover, Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Let me choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight.

Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart,“ You will not call to account”?

Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said,“ The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring harm upon Absalom.

Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the Lord?

The insolent utterly deride me, but I do not turn away from your law.

Then he said to me,“ Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in his room of pictures? For they say,‘ The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’”

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

After this Absalom got himself a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.And Absalom used to rise early and stand beside the way of the gate. And when any man had a dispute to come before the king for judgment, Absalom would call to him and say,“ From what city are you?” And when he said,“ Your servant is of such and such a tribe in Israel,”Absalom would say to him,“ See, your claims are good and right, but there is no man designated by the king to hear you.”Then Absalom would say,“ Oh that I were judge in the land! Then every man with a dispute or cause might come to me, and I would give him justice.”And whenever a man came near to pay homage to him, he would put out his hand and take hold of him and kiss him.Thus Absalom did to all of Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.And at the end of four years Absalom said to the king,“ Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to the Lord, in Hebron.For your servant vowed a vow while I lived at Geshur in Aram, saying,‘ If the Lord will indeed bring me back to Jerusalem, then I will offer worship to the Lord.’”The king said to him,“ Go in peace.” So he arose and went to Hebron.But Absalom sent secret messengers throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then say,‘ Absalom is king at Hebron!’”With Absalom went two hundred men from Jerusalem who were invited guests, and they went in their innocence and knew nothing.And while Absalom was offering the sacrifices, he sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city Giloh. And the conspiracy grew strong, and the people with Absalom kept increasing.

When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.And they bound him and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate the governor.

for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.

In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are,“ There is no God.”

The arrogant have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they have spread a net; beside the way they have set snares for me. Selah

Then he said to me,“ The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of blood, and the city full of injustice. For they say,‘ The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.’

The insolent smear me with lies, but with my whole heart I keep your precepts;
