鄰里用力以攻予、仇敵出言以哂予、皆爾所使兮。

使鄰邦皆爭奪我國、使敵人皆戲笑我、

爾民日戚戚。涕淚充飲食。

You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us.

You have let our neighbors mock us. Our enemies laugh at us.

You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke.

You put us at odds with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.

You have made us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.

We have become a disgrace before our neighbors, An object of derision and ridicule to those around us.

Now was Israel not a laughingstock to you? Or was he caught among thieves? For whenever you speak about him you shake your head in scorn.

It so happened when they were in high spirits, that they said,“ Call for Samson, that he may amuse us.” So they called for Samson from the prison, and he entertained them. And they made him stand between the pillars.

Woe to me, my mother, that you have given birth to me As a man of strife and a man of contention to all the land! I have not lent, nor have people lent money to me, Yet everyone curses me.

Now then, come make a wager with my master the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to put riders on them!

But Rabshakeh said,“ Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, doomed to eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?”Then Rabshakeh stood and called out with a loud voice in Judean and said,“ Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!This is what the king says:‘ Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to save you;and do not let Hezekiah lead you to rely on the Lord, saying,“ The Lord will certainly save us. This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria!”Do not listen to Hezekiah,’ for this is what the king of Assyria says:‘ Surrender to me and come out to me, and eat, each one, of his vine and each of his fig tree, and each drink of the waters of his own cistern,until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.Beware that Hezekiah does not mislead you, saying,“ The Lord will save us.” Has any one of the gods of the nations saved his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And when have they saved Samaria from my hand?Who among all the gods of these lands have saved their land from my hand, that the Lord would save Jerusalem from my hand?’ ”

Therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God. This is what the Lord God says to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, to the desolate ruins and to the abandoned cities which have become plunder and an object of ridicule to the rest of the nations which are all around—

And those who live on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who live on the earth.
