O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple, they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.

O God, pagan nations have conquered your land, your special possession. They have defiled your holy Temple and made Jerusalem a heap of ruins.

They set your sanctuary on fire; they profaned the dwelling place of your name, bringing it down to the ground.They said to themselves,“ We will utterly subdue them”; they burned all the meeting places of God in the land.

You will bring them in and plant them on your own mountain, the place, O Lord, which you have made for your abode, the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established.

And he burned the house of the Lord, and the king’s house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down.

Then the king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and laid on the land a tribute of a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But Neco took Jehoahaz his brother and carried him to Egypt.

and carried off all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold in the temple of the Lord, which Solomon king of Israel had made, as the Lord had foretold.

therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such disaster that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle.And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria, and the plumb line of the house of Ahab, and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.And I will forsake the remnant of my heritage and give them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies,because they have done what is evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day.”Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides the sin that he made Judah to sin so that they did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.

Therefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or aged. He gave them all into his hand.

Then he said to them,“ Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out.” So they went out and struck in the city.

I was angry with my people; I profaned my heritage; I gave them into your hand; you showed them no mercy; on the aged you made your yoke exceedingly heavy.

They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

The Chaldeans burned the king’s house and the house of the people, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

His beautiful ornament they used for pride, and they made their abominable images and their detestable things of it. Therefore I make it an unclean thing to them.And I will give it into the hands of foreigners for prey, and to the wicked of the earth for spoil, and they shall profane it.

but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months.

Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in the field feed on it.
