以免像他們的祖先，成為頑梗悖逆、心裡不堅定、靈裡對神不忠實的一代。

勿效厥祖、斯代頑梗悖逆、其心不正、其神不堅於上帝兮、

毋濟祖惡、如祖悖逆、其心不正、其志不立、以事上帝兮。

莫傚其列祖違背叛逆、居心不中正、向天主意不誠實、

毋效乃父。頑梗成性。懷主不篤。厥心不正。

They would not be like their ancestors— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.

They would not be like their people who lived long ago. Those people were stubborn. They refused to obey God. They turned away from him. Their spirits were not faithful to him.

and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

Then they will not be like their ancestors— stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.

Then they would not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not loyal and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

And the Lord said to Moses,“ I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people!

for I know your rebellion and your stiff neck. If today, while I am yet alive with you, you have been rebellious against the Lord, then how much more after my death?

“ But I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”

“ You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

And do not be like your fathers and your brethren, who trespassed against the Lord God of their fathers, so that He gave them up to desolation, as you see.

Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the Lord their God.

“ If you would prepare your heart, And stretch out your hands toward Him;

And he did evil, because he did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.

Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God.So Moses swore on that day, saying,‘ Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’

But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you.

You have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew you.

And He said to me:“ Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.For they are impudent and stubborn children. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD.’As for them, whether they hear or whether they refuse— for they are a rebellious house— yet they will know that a prophet has been among them.“ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions; do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house.You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious.But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”

Nevertheless the high places were not taken away, for as yet the people had not directed their hearts to the God of their fathers.

For the Lord had said to Moses,“ Say to the children of Israel,‘ You are a stiff-necked people. I could come up into your midst in one moment and consume you. Now therefore, take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do to you.’”

Then he said,“ If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”

Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God.”

Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember the multitude of Your mercies, But rebelled by the sea— the Red Sea.

who prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.”

“ Furthermore the Lord spoke to me, saying,‘ I have seen this people, and indeed they are a stiff-necked people.

But they rebelled against Me and would not obey Me. They did not all cast away the abominations which were before their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said,‘ I will pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.’

That this is a rebellious people, Lying children, Children who will not hear the law of the Lord;

Therefore understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.“ Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.

“ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ guilt.Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?

When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.

God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
