So the people sent men to Shiloh, and they brought back the ark of the covenant of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim. And Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.When the ark of the Lord’s covenant came into the camp, all Israel raised such a great shout that the ground shook.Hearing the uproar, the Philistines asked,“ What’s all this shouting in the Hebrew camp?” When they learned that the ark of the Lord had come into the camp,the Philistines were afraid.“ A god has come into the camp,” they said.“ Oh no! Nothing like this has happened before.We’re doomed! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? They are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.Be strong, Philistines! Be men, or you will be subject to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Be men, and fight!”So the Philistines fought, and the Israelites were defeated and every man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great; Israel lost thirty thousand foot soldiers.The ark of God was captured, and Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died. (niv)

Jeremias 26:6-9
then I will make this house like Shiloh and this city a curse among all the nations of the earth.’”The priests, the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speak these words in the house of the Lord.But as soon as Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the Lord had commanded him to say, the priests, the prophets and all the people seized him and said,“ You must die!Why do you prophesy in the Lord’s name that this house will be like Shiloh and this city will be desolate and deserted?” And all the people crowded around Jeremiah in the house of the Lord. “‘ Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors.
