They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.

All who serve carved images, those who boast in idols, will be put to shame. All the gods must worship Him.

Don’t worship the Lord your God this way.

Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

You are never to bow down to another god because Yahweh, being jealous by nature, is a jealous God.

Then the Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They worshiped the Baals and the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, Sidon, and Moab, and the gods of the Ammonites and the Philistines. They abandoned Yahweh and did not worship Him.

But you are about to cross over and take possession of this good land.Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that He made with you, and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of anything He has forbidden you.For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.“ When you have children and grandchildren and have been in the land a long time, and if you act corruptly, make an idol in the form of anything, and do what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, provoking Him to anger,

Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.You must not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the fathers’ sin, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

How long, Yahweh? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy keep burning like fire?

The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight. They worshiped the Baalsand abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of Egypt. They went after other gods from the surrounding peoples and bowed down to them. They infuriated the Lord,

Listen— the cry of my dear people from a far away land,“ Is the Lord no longer in Zion, her King not within her?” Why have they provoked me to anger with their carved images, with their worthless foreign idols?

you must drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you, destroy all their stone images and cast images, and demolish all their high places.

When I brought them into the land that I swore to give them and they saw any high hill or leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices and presented their offensive offerings there. They also sent up their pleasing aromas and poured out their drink offerings there.So I asked them: What is this high place you are going to? And it is called High Place to this day.

He stretched out what appeared to be a hand and took me by the hair of my head. He had commanded him about this, so that he would not follow other gods, but Solomon did not do what the Lord had commanded.

The Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He declared,“ Because this nation has violated My covenant that I made with their fathers and disobeyed Me,

Now they continue to sin and make themselves a cast image, idols skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of craftsmen. People say about them,“ Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves.”
