We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.

So you led your people to make yourself a glorious name.Look down from heaven, and see from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory. Where are your zeal and your mighty acts? The yearning of your heart and your compassion is restrained toward me.For you are our Father, though Abraham doesn’t know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, Yahweh, are our Father. Our Redeemer from everlasting is your name.O Yahweh, why do you make us wander from your ways, and harden our heart from your fear? Return for your servants’ sake, the tribes of your inheritance.Your holy people possessed it but a little while. Our adversaries have trodden down your sanctuary.We have become like those over whom you never ruled, like those who were not called by your name.

You shall tell your son in that day, saying,‘ It is because of that which Yahweh did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

He spoke to the children of Israel, saying,“ When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying,‘ What do these stones mean?’Then you shall let your children know, saying,‘ Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.For Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you until you had crossed over, as Yahweh your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we had crossed over,that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh’s hand is mighty, and that you may fear Yahweh your God forever.’”

Why do you stand far off, Yahweh? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.For the wicked boasts of his heart’s cravings. He blesses the greedy and condemns Yahweh.The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.His ways are prosperous at all times. He is arrogant, and your laws are far from his sight. As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them.

that I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard and tell of all your wondrous deeds.

It will happen, when your children ask you,‘ What do you mean by this service?’
