But he,[ being] full of compassion, forgave[ their] iniquity, and destroyed[ them] not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

主仍發憐恤、赦免罪愆、不施行毀滅、屢次轉怒回嗔、不欲發之殆盡、

慈懷包荒。赦其罪孽。惡雖盈貫。未予殲滅。不為已甚。聖怒屢戢。

Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.

But he was full of tender love. He forgave their sins and didn’t destroy his people. Time after time he held back his anger. He didn’t let all his burning anger blaze out.

Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath.

Yet he was merciful and forgave their sins and did not destroy them all. Many times he held back his anger and did not unleash his fury!

For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

The LORD[ is] longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing[ the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth[ generation].Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word:

And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear[ the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth[ generation].And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it[ is] a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which[ if] a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which[ if] a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they[ were], in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

And he did[ that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh did.

Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou[ art] my servant: I have formed thee; thou[ art] my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked[ him] with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
