上帝乃慈、赦宥其罪、不加殄滅、屢回其怒、不盡洩其忿兮、

上帝矜憫無涯、赦宥頻加、不忍翦滅、屢遏其怒、不奮其威兮、

主仍發憐恤、赦免罪愆、不施行毀滅、屢次轉怒回嗔、不欲發之殆盡、

慈懷包荒。赦其罪孽。惡雖盈貫。未予殲滅。不為已甚。聖怒屢戢。

Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.

But he was full of tender love. He forgave their sins and didn’t destroy his people. Time after time he held back his anger. He didn’t let all his burning anger blaze out.

Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath.

Yet he was merciful and forgave their sins and did not destroy them all. Many times he held back his anger and did not unleash his fury!

“我为了我的名，暂时忍怒；我为了我的荣耀，压住怒气，不消灭你。

‘耶和华不轻易发怒，充满慈爱；祂赦免罪恶和过犯，但决不免除罪责，必向子孙追讨父辈的罪债，直到三四代。’从他们离开埃及直到现在，你一直在饶恕他们，求你以伟大的慈爱再次赦免这些人的罪。”耶和华说：“我听你的祈求，赦免他们。

耶和华在摩西面前经过，并且宣告说：“我是耶和华，我是耶和华，是有怜悯和恩典的上帝，不轻易发怒，充满慈爱，无比信实，向千万人彰显慈爱，赦免罪恶和过犯，但决不免除罪责，必向子孙追讨父辈的罪债，直到三四代。”摩西急忙俯伏在地上敬拜，说：“主啊，如果我在你面前蒙了恩，求你与我们同行。虽然百姓顽固不化，求你赦免我们的过犯和罪恶，接纳我们做你的子民。”

“‘可是，以色列人却在旷野背叛我，不遵行我的律例和典章——遵行的人必活着，大肆亵渎我的安息日。我本想在旷野向他们发烈怒，灭绝他们。但我没有这样做，以免我的名在周围列邦面前被亵渎，因为列邦亲眼看见我向以色列人显现，把他们带出埃及。

“‘可是，他们的子孙却背叛我，不恪守我的律例，不谨遵我的典章——遵守的人必活着。他们亵渎我的安息日。我本想在旷野向他们发烈怒，倾倒我的怒气，但我没有这样做，以免我的名在周围列邦面前被亵渎，因为列邦亲眼看见我向以色列人显现，把他们带出埃及。

“‘然而，他们却背叛我，不听我的话，没有除去他们祭拜的可憎之物和埃及的偶像。我本想在埃及向他们发烈怒，倾倒我的怒火，但我没有这样做，以免我的名在他们寄居的列邦面前被亵渎。因为列邦亲眼看见我向以色列人显现，把他们带出埃及。

他效法他父亲玛拿西做耶和华视为恶的事，

但我怜悯他们，没有毁灭他们，没有在旷野把他们全部灭绝。

“雅各啊，以色列啊，要记住这些事，因为你是我的仆人。我造了你，你是我的仆人；以色列啊，我不会忘记你。我除去了你的过犯和罪恶，使它们如云雾消散。归向我吧，因为我救赎了你。”

祂多次拯救他们，他们却执意背叛，陷入罪中不能自拔。但祂听见他们在苦难中呼求时，仍然眷顾他们。祂没有忘记与他们立的约，因祂伟大无比的爱而怜悯他们。

耶和华对摩西说：“你们离开这些会众，我好在顷刻之间消灭他们。”他们二人就俯伏在地。摩西对亚伦说：“取香炉来，里面放些坛上的火，添上香，赶快带到会众那里为他们赎罪，因为耶和华发怒了，瘟疫已经开始。”亚伦就照着摩西的吩咐取来香炉，跑到会众当中。那时瘟疫已经在人群中蔓延起来。他就在炉中放上香为民众赎罪。他站在活人和死人中间，瘟疫就止住了。
