They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,

既食且飽。貪欲未寢。

But before they turned from what they craved, even while the food was still in their mouths,

But even before they had finished eating, God acted. He did it while the food was still in their mouths.

For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.

God came to Balaam at night, and said to him,“ If the men have come to call you, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak to you, that you shall do.”Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab.God’s anger burned because he went; and Yahweh’s angel placed himself in the way as an adversary against him. Now he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, Yahweh’s anger burned against the people, and Yahweh struck the people with a very great plague.The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.

“ Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was taken to his gate, full of sores,and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.
