When the Lord heard them, he was furious. The fire of his wrath burned against Jacob. Yes, his anger rose against Israel,

耶和華聞此、震怒雅各家、以色列族、勢若烈燄兮、

主聞之甚不悅、向雅各氣如烈火、向以色列人大震厥怒、

雅瑋聞語。炎炎其忿。其忿緣何。

When the Lord heard them, he was furious; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel,

For my anger blazes forth like fire and burns to the depths of the grave. It devours the earth and all its crops and ignites the foundations of the mountains.

Soon the people began to complain about their hardship, and the Lord heard everything they said. Then the Lord’s anger blazed against them, and he sent a fire to rage among them, and he destroyed some of the people in the outskirts of the camp.Then the people screamed to Moses for help, and when he prayed to the Lord, the fire stopped.After that, the area was known as Taberah( which means“ the place of burning”), because fire from the Lord had burned among them there.

Moses heard all the families standing in the doorways of their tents whining, and the Lord became extremely angry. Moses was also very aggravated.

the anger of God rose against them, and he killed their strongest men. He struck down the finest of Israel’s young men.

These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.

So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful.

Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
