妄議上帝曰、上帝豈能備筵於野乎、

怨讟上帝、謂今在野、豈能肆筵設席兮、

謗讟天主云、天主亦能在曠野設筵席乎、

心怨口讟。主亦何吝

They insulted God, saying,“ Is God really able to give us food in the wilderness?

Yes, they spoke against God. They said,“ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

And the mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

And Moses said, This shall be, when Jehovah shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that Jehovah heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.And Moses said unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before Jehovah; for he hath heard your murmurings.And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud.

Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

For he addeth rebellion unto his sin; He clappeth his hands among us, And multiplieth his words against God.

and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh- pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

And he opened his mouth for blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, even them that dwell in the heaven.

And the people strove with Moses, and spake, saying, Would that we had died when our brethren died before Jehovah!

Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?

And they spake of the God of Jerusalem, as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.
