I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked:

I remembered how I used to sing praise to you in the night. I thought about it, and here is what I asked myself.

I said,“ Let me remember my song in the night; let me meditate in my heart.” Then my spirit made a diligent search:

when my nights were filled with joyful songs. I search my soul and ponder the difference now.

At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders.

By day the LORD decrees his loyal love, and by night he gives me a song, a prayer to the living God.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the rest of the prisoners were listening to them.

Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns!See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path!

Let us carefully examine our ways, and let us return to the LORD.

I thought to myself,“ I have become much wiser than any of my predecessors who ruled over Jerusalem; I have acquired much wisdom and knowledge.”

A person should examine himself first, and in this way let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.For the one who eats and drinks without careful regard for the body eats and drinks judgment against himself.That is why many of you are weak and sick, and quite a few are dead.But if we examined ourselves, we would not be judged.But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned with the world.
