The valiant lie plundered, they sleep their last sleep; not one of the warriors can lift his hands.

Brave soldiers have been robbed of everything they had. Now they lie there, sleeping in death. Not one of them can even lift his hands.

The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands.

Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us.

I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand; but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before the king of Babylon with the groaning of a mortally wounded man.I will hold up the arms of the king of Babylon; and the arms of Pharaoh will fall down. Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he stretches it out on the land of Egypt.

He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.He has put down princes from their thrones. And has exalted the lowly.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.

Then Yahweh’s angel went out and struck one hundred and eighty- five thousand men in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

“ The Assyrian will fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of mankind, shall devour him. He will flee from the sword, and his young men will become subject to forced labor.
