地上行讞鞫。良善蒙恩撫。

Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.

Your anger against sinners brings you praise. Those who live through your anger gather to worship you.

Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant of wrath you will put on like a belt.

Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.

For the wrath of mankind shall praise You; You will encircle Yourself with a remnant of wrath.

Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with rage, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He gave orders to heat the furnace seven times more than was customary,and he commanded some of the best soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and throw them into the furnace of blazing fire.

For the Scripture tells Pharaoh, I raised you up for this reason so that I may display my power in you and that my name may be proclaimed in the whole earth.

The enemy said:“ I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil. My desire will be gratified at their expense. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.”But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.LORD, who is like you among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders?

You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result— the survival of many people.

Nations rage, kingdoms topple; the earth melts when he lifts his voice.

When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter too, during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.After the arrest, he put him in prison and assigned four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was praying fervently to God for him.When Herod was about to bring him out for trial, that very night Peter, bound with two chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while the sentries in front of the door guarded the prison.Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the cell. Striking Peter on the side, he woke him up and said,“ Quick, get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.“ Get dressed,” the angel told him,“ and put on your sandals.” And he did.“ Wrap your cloak around you,” he told him,“ and follow me.”So he went out and followed, and he did not know that what the angel did was really happening, but he thought he was seeing a vision.After they passed the first and second guards, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went outside and passed one street, and suddenly the angel left him.When Peter came to himself, he said,“ Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s grasp and from all that the Jewish people expected.”As soon as he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John who was called Mark, where many had assembled and were praying.He knocked at the door of the outer gate, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer.She recognized Peter’s voice, and because of her joy, she did not open the gate but ran in and announced that Peter was standing at the outer gate.“ You’re out of your mind!” they told her. But she kept insisting that it was true, and they said,“ It’s his angel.”Peter, however, kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were amazed.Motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison.“ Tell these things to James and the brothers,” he said, and he left and went to another place.At daylight, there was a great commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.After Herod had searched and did not find him, he interrogated the guards and ordered their execution. Then Herod went down from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.

However, I have let you live for this purpose: to show you my power and to make my name known on the whole earth.You are still acting arrogantly against my people by not letting them go.

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods, because he did wonders when the Egyptians acted arrogantly against Israel.”

After they were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying,“ Get up! Take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to kill him.”So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt.He stayed there until Herod’s death, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: Out of Egypt I called my Son.Then Herod, when he realized that he had been outwitted by the wise men, flew into a rage. He gave orders to massacre all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men.

They saw him in the distance, and before he had reached them, they plotted to kill him.They said to one another,“ Oh, look, here comes that dream expert!So now, come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a vicious animal ate him. Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”

You silence the roar of the seas, the roar of their waves, and the tumult of the nations.

Unless those days were cut short, no one would be saved. But those days will be cut short because of the elect.

The nations were angry, but your wrath has come. The time has come for the dead to be judged and to give the reward to your servants the prophets, to the saints, and to those who fear your name, both small and great, and the time has come to destroy those who destroy the earth.

The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers assemble together against the Lord and against his Messiah.“ For, in fact, in this city both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,to do whatever your hand and your will had predestined to take place.

You set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never cover the earth again.
