They say,“ How does God know what we do? Is the sovereign one aware of what goes on?”

他們說：「上帝怎能知道？至高者會察覺嗎？」

他們說：“神怎會曉得？至高者有知識嗎？”

他們說：『上帝怎能曉得？至高者哪能知道？』

他們說：「神怎能知道呢？至高者有知識嗎？」

彼曰、上帝焉得知、至高者豈有識乎、

維彼有言、謂至高之上帝、焉能鑒察兮、

曰、天主有何分曉、至上之主有何見識、

意謂主無知。高高何所矚。

They say,“ How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?”

They say,“ How would God know what we’re doing? Does the Most High God know anything?”

And they say,“ How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”

“ What does God know?” they ask.“ Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”

The wicked say,“ How can God know? Does the Most High know everything?”

They say,“ How does God know? And is there knowledge with the Most High?”

And they say,“ How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?”

And they say, How doth God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?

The wicked say,“ How can God know? Does the Most High know everything?”

And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

They say,“ How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”

At that time I will search through Jerusalem with lamps. I will punish the people who are entrenched in their sin, those who think to themselves,‘ The LORD neither rewards nor punishes.’

But you have said,‘ What does God know? Does he judge through such deep darkness?Thick clouds are a veil for him, so he does not see us, as he goes back and forth in the vault of heaven.’

He said to me,“ Do you see, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in the chamber of his idolatrous images? For they think,‘ The LORD does not see us! The LORD has abandoned the land!’”

Then they say,“ The LORD does not see this; the God of Jacob does not take notice of it.”

They do not realize that I remember all of their wicked deeds. Their evil deeds have now surrounded them; their sinful deeds are always before me.

They speak as if they rule in heaven, and lay claim to the earth.

would not God discover it, for he knows one’s thoughts?

He says to himself,“ God overlooks it; he does not pay attention; he never notices.”

O LORD, you examine me and know.You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives.You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; you are aware of everything I do.Certainly my tongue does not frame a word without you, O LORD, being thoroughly aware of it.You squeeze me in from behind and in front; you place your hand on me.Your knowledge is beyond my comprehension; it is so far beyond me, I am unable to fathom it.
