For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.

You are the King and the Lord. You have always been my hope. I have trusted in you ever since I was young.

For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth.

O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O Lord, from childhood.

For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth.

For You are my hope; Lord God, You are my confidence from my youth.

For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth.

For thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovah: Thou art my trust from my youth.

For You are my hope, Lord God, my confidence from my youth.

For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young.

“ But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.

“ But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.

Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.

Do not be a terror to me; you are my refuge in the day of disaster.

I wait for your salvation, Lord, and I follow your commands.

David said to the Philistine,“ You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

Saul replied,“ You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.”But David said to Saul,“ Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock,I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David,“ Go, and the Lord be with you.”

You who are the hope of Israel, its Savior in times of distress, why are you like a stranger in the land, like a traveler who stays only a night?

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Lord, you are the hope of Israel; all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord, the spring of living water.

and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Whoever found them devoured them; their enemies said,‘ We are not guilty, for they sinned against the Lord, their verdant pasture, the Lord, the hope of their ancestors.’

Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say,“ I find no pleasure in them”—
