Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.

You have sent many bitter troubles my way. But you will give me new life. Even if I’m almost in the grave, you will bring me back.

You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again.

You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.

Selah.Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave?[ or] thy faithfulness in destruction?Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.LORD, why castest thou off my soul?[ why] hidest thou thy face from me?I[ am] afflicted and ready to die from[ my] youth up:[ while] I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.Lover and friend hast thou put far from me,[ and] mine acquaintance into darkness.

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy[ place].

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock,[ and] established my goings.And he hath put a new song in my mouth,[ even] praise unto our God: many shall see[ it], and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Thy dead[ men] shall live,[ together with] my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew[ is as] the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give[ them] unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Are they ministers of Christ?( I speak as a fool) I[ am] more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.Of the Jews five times received I forty[ stripes] save one.Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;[ In] journeyings often,[ in] perils of waters,[ in] perils of robbers,[ in] perils by[ mine own] countrymen,[ in] perils by the heathen,[ in] perils in the city,[ in] perils in the wilderness,[ in] perils in the sea,[ in] perils among false brethren;In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

( Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
