我的仇敵議論我，那些想殺害我的一起策劃陰謀，說：

蓋敵論我、伺索我命者同謀兮、

為余之敵者、謗毀沸騰、害予之命者、眾論僉同、

因我仇敵議論我、暗俟欲害我命、彼此商議、

不聞眾狡敵。狺狺向我吠。群姦窺吾命相聚議詭計。

My enemies speak against me. Those who want to kill me get together and make evil plans.

For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together

For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me.

For my enemies talk about me, and those who spy on me plot together,

For my enemies have spoken against me; And those who watch for my life have consulted together,

For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,

For mine enemies speak concerning me; And they that watch for my soul take counsel together,

For my enemies talk about me, and those who spy on me plot together,

For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,

For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise.

For my enemies talk about me. Those who watch for my soul conspire together,

They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, hoping to take my life.

Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.

With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.

The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,

like a lion in cover he lies in wait. He lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.

For I hear many whispering,“ Terror on every side!” They conspire against me and plot to take my life.

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,and they schemed to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.

Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ I would choose twelve thousand men and set out tonight in pursuit of David.I would attack him while he is weary and weak. I would strike him with terror, and then all the people with him will flee. I would strike down only the kingand bring all the people back to you. The death of the man you seek will mean the return of all; all the people will be unharmed.”This plan seemed good to Absalom and to all the elders of Israel.But Absalom said,“ Summon also Hushai the Arkite, so we can hear what he has to say as well.”When Hushai came to him, Absalom said,“ Ahithophel has given this advice. Should we do what he says? If not, give us your opinion.”Hushai replied to Absalom,“ The advice Ahithophel has given is not good this time.You know your father and his men; they are fighters, and as fierce as a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Besides, your father is an experienced fighter; he will not spend the night with the troops.Even now, he is hidden in a cave or some other place. If he should attack your troops first, whoever hears about it will say,‘ There has been a slaughter among the troops who follow Absalom.’Then even the bravest soldier, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will melt with fear, for all Israel knows that your father is a fighter and that those with him are brave.“ So I advise you: Let all Israel, from Dan to Beersheba— as numerous as the sand on the seashore— be gathered to you, with you yourself leading them into battle.Then we will attack him wherever he may be found, and we will fall on him as dew settles on the ground. Neither he nor any of his men will be left alive.If he withdraws into a city, then all Israel will bring ropes to that city, and we will drag it down to the valley until not so much as a pebble is left.”Absalom and all the men of Israel said,“ The advice of Hushai the Arkite is better than that of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had determined to frustrate the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom.

If they say,“ Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for innocent blood, let’s ambush some harmless soul;

Saul sent men to David’s house to watch it and to kill him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, warned him,“ If you don’t run for your life tonight, tomorrow you’ll be killed.”

I hear many whispering,“ Terror on every side! Denounce him! Let’s denounce him!” All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying,“ Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him.”

The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death;but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial.
