For I suffer humiliation for your sake and am thoroughly disgraced.

緣我為主受毀謗、滿面蒙羞、

惟不欲因予之故兮。而貽恃主者以慚惶。更不欲因予之故兮。而致求主者之失望。

For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face.

Because of you, people laugh at me. My face is covered with shame.

For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face.

For I endure insults for your sake; humiliation is written all over my face.

For I have endured insults because of you, and shame has covered my face.

Because for Your sake I have endured disgrace; Dishonor has covered my face.

Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face.

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; Shame hath covered my face.

For I have endured insults because of You, and shame has covered my face.

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

Because for your sake, I have borne reproach. Shame has covered my face.

I said,“ LORD, you know how I suffer. Take thought of me and care for me. Pay back for me those who have been persecuting me. Do not be so patient with them that you allow them to kill me. Be mindful of how I have put up with their insults for your sake.

I offered my back to those who attacked, my jaws to those who tore out my beard; I did not hide my face from insults and spitting.

Yet because of you we are killed all day long; we are treated like sheep at the slaughtering block.

keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.

But I am a worm, not a man; people insult me and despise me.All who see me taunt me; they mock me and shake their heads.They say,“ Commit yourself to the LORD! Let the LORD rescue him! Let the LORD deliver him, for he delights in him.”

The people also stood there watching, but the rulers ridiculed him, saying,“ He saved others. Let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine,and saying,“ If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!”

All day long I feel humiliated and am overwhelmed with shame,

But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. But they no longer have any excuse for their sin.The one who hates me hates my Father too.If I had not performed among them the miraculous deeds that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen the deeds and have hated both me and my Father.

and after braiding a crown of thorns, they put it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand, and kneeling down before him, they mocked him:“ Hail, king of the Jews!”They spat on him and took the staff and struck him repeatedly on the head.

Even Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, dressing him in elegant clothes, Herod sent him back to Pilate.

Then two outlaws were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their headsand saying,“ You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are God’s Son, come down from the cross!”In the same way even the chief priests– together with the experts in the law and elders– were mocking him:“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the king of Israel! If he comes down now from the cross, we will believe in him!He trusts in God– let God, if he wants to, deliver him now because he said,‘ I am God’s Son’!”The robbers who were crucified with him also spoke abusively to him.

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,saying,“ Prophesy for us, you Christ! Who hit you?”
