Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters.

Save me from the trouble I’m in. It’s like slippery mud, so don’t let me sink in it. Save me from those who hate me. Save me from the deep water I’m in.

Deliver me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters.

Rescue me from the mud; don’t let me sink any deeper! Save me from those who hate me, and pull me from these deep waters.

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me.

He said to them,“ My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch.”He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.He said,“ Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,“ Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour?Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.Again he returned, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they didn’t know what to answer him.He came the third time, and said to them,“ Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.Arise! Let’s get going. Behold: he who betrays me is at hand.”

Then they took Jeremiah and threw him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard. They let down Jeremiah with cords. In the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, a eunuch, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon( the king was then sitting in Benjamin’s gate),Ebedmelech went out of the king’s house, and spoke to the king, saying,“ My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon. He is likely to die in the place where he is, because of the famine; for there is no more bread in the city.”Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying,“ Take from here thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he dies.”So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took from there rags and worn- out garments, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah,“ Now put these rags and worn- out garments under your armpits under the cords.” Jeremiah did so.So they drew up Jeremiah with the cords, and took him up out of the dungeon; and Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?

Don’t let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.

then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul;then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

I waited patiently for Yahweh. He turned to me, and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in Yahweh.

Don’t let the flood waters overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up. Don’t let the pit shut its mouth on me.

I called on your name, Yahweh, out of the lowest dungeon.

But deal with me, Yahweh the Lord, for your name’s sake, because your loving kindness is good, deliver me;

But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying,‘ We don’t want this man to reign over us.’

Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins.Consider my enemies, for they are many. They hate me with cruel hatred.

But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”

At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,“ Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted,“ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
