The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.

Then He said to them,“ My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.And He said,“ Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,“ Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.Then He came the third time and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”

So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire. So Jeremiah sank in the mire.Now Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon. When the king was sitting at the Gate of Benjamin,Ebed-Melech went out of the king’s house and spoke to the king, saying:“ My Lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon, and he is likely to die from hunger in the place where he is. For there is no more bread in the city.”Then the king commanded Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, saying,“ Take from here thirty men with you, and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon before he dies.”So Ebed-Melech took the men with him and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took from there old clothes and old rags, and let them down by ropes into the dungeon to Jeremiah.Then Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah,“ Please put these old clothes and rags under your armpits, under the ropes.” And Jeremiah did so.So they pulled Jeremiah up with ropes and lifted him out of the dungeon. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?

Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies; Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.

Let not the floodwater overflow me, Nor let the deep swallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth on me.

I called on Your name, O Lord, From the lowest pit.

But You, O GOD the Lord, Deal with me for Your name’s sake; Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.

But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We will not have this man to reign over us.’

Look on my affliction and my pain, And forgive all my sins.Consider my enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred.

But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’”

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,“ Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated,“ My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
