Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters.

Save me from the trouble I’m in. It’s like slippery mud, so don’t let me sink in it. Save me from those who hate me. Save me from the deep water I’m in.

Deliver me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters.

Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and Your billows have swept over me.

Then He said to them,“ My soul is swallowed up in sorrow— to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake.”Then He went a little farther, fell to the ground, and began to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.And He said,“ Abba, Father! All things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”Then He came and found them sleeping.“ Simon, are you sleeping?” He asked Peter.“ Couldn’t you stay awake one hour?Stay awake and pray so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Once again He went away and prayed, saying the same thing.And He came again and found them sleeping, because they could not keep their eyes open. They did not know what to say to Him.Then He came a third time and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The time has come. Look, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.Get up; let’s go! See— My betrayer is near.”

So they took Jeremiah and dropped him into the cistern of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the guard’s courtyard, lowering Jeremiah with ropes. There was no water in the cistern, only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.But Ebed-melech, a Cushite court official employed in the king’s palace, heard Jeremiah had been put into the cistern. While the king was sitting at the Benjamin Gate,Ebed-melech went from the king’s palace and spoke to the king:“ My lord the king, these men have been evil in all they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have dropped him into the cistern where he will die from hunger, because there is no more bread in the city.”So the king commanded Ebed-melech, the Cushite,“ Take from here 30 men under your authority and pull Jeremiah the prophet up from the cistern before he dies.”So Ebed-melech took the men under his authority and went to the king’s palace to a place below the storehouse. From there he took old rags and worn-out clothes and lowered them by ropes to Jeremiah in the cistern.Ebed-melech the Cushite cried out to Jeremiah,“ Place these old rags and clothes between your armpits and the ropes.” Jeremiah did so,and they pulled him up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern, but he continued to stay in the guard’s courtyard.

They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause.

I thirst for God, the living God. When can I come and appear before God?

Do not let my deceitful enemies rejoice over me; do not let those who hate me without cause look at me maliciously.

Then the waters would have engulfed us; the torrent would have swept over us;the raging waters would have swept over us.

I waited patiently for the Lord, and He turned to me and heard my cry for help.He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.

Don’t let the floodwaters sweep over me or the deep swallow me up; don’t let the Pit close its mouth over me.

I called on Your name, Yahweh, from the depths of the Pit.

But You, Yahweh my Lord, deal kindly with me because of Your name; deliver me because of the goodness of Your faithful love.

“ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We don’t want this man to rule over us!’

Consider my affliction and trouble, and take away all my sins.Consider my enemies; they are numerous, and they hate me violently.

But bring here these enemies of mine, who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter them in my presence.’”

And at three Jesus cried out with a loud voice,“ Eloi, Eloi, lemá sabachtháni?” which is translated,“ My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
