And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honored.“ Then from his presence the hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed.And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin.This is the interpretation of the matter: Mene, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end;Tekel, you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting;Peres, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; do not further their evil plot, or they will be exalted! Selah

I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end.He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.”

I say to the boastful,‘ Do not boast,’ and to the wicked,‘ Do not lift up your horn;do not lift up your horn on high, or speak with haughty neck.’”

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.”

“‘ I know your sitting down and your going out and coming in, and your raging against me.Because you have raged against me and your complacency has come to my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will turn you back on the way by which you came.’

The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man;

But he does not so intend, and his heart does not so think; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few;for he says:“ Are not my commanders all kings?Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?As my hand has reached to the kingdoms of the idols, whose carved images were greater than those of Jerusalem and Samaria,shall I not do to Jerusalem and her idols as I have done to Samaria and her images?”When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes.For he says:“ By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding; I remove the boundaries of peoples, and plunder their treasures; like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones.My hand has found like a nest the wealth of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved a wing or opened the mouth or chirped.”Shall the axe boast over him who hews with it, or the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? As if a rod should wield him who lifts it, or as if a staff should lift him who is not wood!Therefore the Lord God of hosts will send wasting sickness among his stout warriors, and under his glory a burning will be kindled, like the burning of fire.

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.[ The Lord is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.]

He is wise in heart and mighty in strength— who has hardened himself against him, and succeeded?—

Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

And Jesus came and said to them,“ All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods, because in this affair they dealt arrogantly with the people.”

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.For they have no pangs until death; their bodies are fat and sleek.They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment.Their eyes swell out through fatness; their hearts overflow with follies.They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.Therefore his people turn back to them, and find no fault in them.And they say,“ How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches.

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day.Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit.You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. SelahYou love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue.But God will break you down forever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him,“ What have you done?”
