I have heard the many rumors about me, and I am surrounded by terror. My enemies conspire against me, plotting to take my life.But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying,“ You are my God!”My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly.

Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help!Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles.

I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are boldly attacking me.But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?

Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous.Don’t put your servant on trial, for no one is innocent before you.My enemy has chased me. He has knocked me to the ground and forces me to live in darkness like those in the grave.

Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me!

One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him,“ Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent!For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.”

Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.Protect me from wicked people who attack me, from murderous enemies who surround me.

But I called on your name, Lord, from deep within the pit.You heard me when I cried,“ Listen to my pleading! Hear my cry for help!”

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.
