God, you are my God. I seek you with all my heart. With all my strength I thirst for you in this dry desert where there isn’t any water.

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you. I thirst for you; my body faints for you in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.

God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water.

“ The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

I will say of the Lord,“ He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you.

But I trust in you, Lord; I say,“ You are my God.”

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say,‘ They are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The Lord is our God.’”

But the prophet Gad said to David,“ Do not stay in the stronghold. Go into the land of Judah.” So David left and went to the forest of Hereth.

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.“ Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me,

Whenever God slew them, they would seek him; they eagerly turned to him again.

The Ziphites went to Saul at Gibeah and said,“ Is not David hiding on the hill of Hakilah, which faces Jeshimon?”So Saul went down to the Desert of Ziph, with his three thousand select Israelite troops, to search there for David.Saul made his camp beside the road on the hill of Hakilah facing Jeshimon, but David stayed in the wilderness. When he saw that Saul had followed him there,

I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.

Then I will return to my lair until they have borne their guilt and seek my face— in their misery they will earnestly seek me.”

For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn like glowing embers.My heart is blighted and withered like grass; I forget to eat my food.In my distress I groan aloud and am reduced to skin and bones.

Find out about all the hiding places he uses and come back to me with definite information. Then I will go with you; if he is in the area, I will track him down among all the clans of Judah.”So they set out and went to Ziph ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the Desert of Maon, in the Arabah south of Jeshimon.Saul and his men began the search, and when David was told about it, he went down to the rock and stayed in the Desert of Maon. When Saul heard this, he went into the Desert of Maon in pursuit of David.

All night long on my bed I looked for the one my heart loves; I looked for him but did not find him.I will get up now and go about the city, through its streets and squares; I will search for the one my heart loves. So I looked for him but did not find him.The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city.“ Have you seen the one my heart loves?”

‘ Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat.For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;‘ he will lead them to springs of living water.’‘ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”

“ This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord.“ I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

“ At that time,” declares the Lord,“ I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.”

Jesus said,“ Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them,‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice,“ Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.

The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.

But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said,“ Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?”

“ When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.

David stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hills of the Desert of Ziph. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands.While David was at Horesh in the Desert of Ziph, he learned that Saul had come out to take his life.And Saul’s son Jonathan went to David at Horesh and helped him find strength in God.

But if you will seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty,

Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you— if you find my beloved, what will you tell him? Tell him I am faint with love.

I will wait at the fords in the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.”
