Then the prophet Gad said to David,“ Don’t stay in the stronghold. Leave and return to the land of Judah.” So David left and went to the forest of Hereth.

Why am I so depressed? Why this turmoil within me? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him, my Savior and my God.

I will depart and return to My place until they recognize their guilt and seek My face; they will search for Me in their distress.

For my days vanish like smoke, and my bones burn like a furnace.My heart is afflicted, withered like grass; I even forget to eat my food.Because of the sound of my groaning, my flesh sticks to my bones.

In my bed at night I sought the one I love; I sought him, but did not find him.I will arise now and go about the city, through the streets and the plazas. I will seek the one I love. On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out,“ If anyone is thirsty, he should come to Me and drink!

the parched ground will become a pool of water, and the thirsty land springs of water. In the haunt of jackals, in their lairs, there will be grass, reeds, and papyrus.

David then stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hill country of the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul searched for him every day, but God did not hand David over to him.David was in the Wilderness of Ziph in Horesh when he saw that Saul had come out to take his life.Then Saul’s son Jonathan came to David in Horesh and encouraged him in his faith in God,

But if you earnestly seek God and ask the Almighty for mercy,

Each will be like a shelter from the wind, a refuge from the rain, like streams of water in a dry land and the shade of a massive rock in an arid land.

Young women of Jerusalem, I charge you: if you find my love, tell him that I am lovesick.

Remember, I’ll wait at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.”
