世間人無論尊卑、皆屬虛妄、若置之權衡、必然浮起、悉輕於虛空、悉輕於虛空或作比呼吸之氣尤輕

吾民其恃主。向主披肺腑。雖在危厄終必安。主是吾人停泊所。

Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.

Surely ordinary people are only a breath. Important people are not what they seem to be. If they were weighed on a scale, they wouldn’t amount to anything. Together they are only a breath.

Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.

Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind, and the powerful are not what they appear to be. If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air.

Common people are only a vapor; important people, an illusion. Together on a scale, they weigh less than a vapor.

People of low standing are only breath, and people of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up. Together they are lighter than breath.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: In the balances they will go up; They are together lighter than vanity.

Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion. Weighed in the scales, they go up; together they are less than a vapor.

Surely men of low degree[ are] vanity,[ and] men of high degree[ are] a lie: to be laid in the balance, they[ are] altogether[ lighter] than vanity.

Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air.

Surely men of low degree are just a breath, and men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.

Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah

Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, And are counted as the small dust on the scales; Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing.

All nations before Him are as nothing, And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.

It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.

When with rebukes You correct man for iniquity, You make his beauty melt away like a moth; Surely every man is vapor. Selah

Then David said,“ Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?” And the Lord said,“ They will deliver you.”

So Saul said,“ I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time,“ You shall be my son-in-law today.”And Saul commanded his servants,“ Communicate with David secretly, and say,‘ Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. Now therefore, become the king’s son-in-law.’”So Saul’s servants spoke those words in the hearing of David. And David said,“ Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king’s son-in-law, seeing I am a poor and lightly esteemed man?”And the servants of Saul told him, saying,“ In this manner David spoke.”Then Saul said,“ Thus you shall say to David:‘ The king does not desire any dowry but one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king’s enemies.’” But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.So when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to become the king’s son-in-law. Now the days had not expired;

Then the Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying,“ Is David not hiding with us in strongholds in the woods, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.”

Then someone told David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written:“ That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.”

In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

I said in my haste,“ All men are liars.”

So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.

Then Saul said,“ I have sinned. Return, my son David. For I will harm you no more, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Indeed I have played the fool and erred exceedingly.”And David answered and said,“ Here is the king’s spear. Let one of the young men come over and get it.May the Lord repay every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the Lord delivered you into my hand today, but I would not stretch out my hand against the LORD’s anointed.And indeed, as your life was valued much this day in my eyes, so let my life be valued much in the eyes of the Lord, and let Him deliver me out of all tribulation.”Then Saul said to David,“ May you be blessed, my son David! You shall both do great things and also still prevail.” So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

But they cried out,“ Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them,“ Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered,“ We have no king but Caesar!”

So the women sang as they danced, and said:“ Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.”

Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:“ Hosanna to the Son of David!‘ Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!”

But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance.We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng.
