Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

For without[ are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

I hate and abhor lying:[ but] thy law do I love.

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden[ part] thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in[ his] talk.

The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

Ye are of[ your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed,[ saying],Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.If we let him thus alone, all[ men] will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.And one of them,[ named] Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

A righteous[ man] hateth lying: but a wicked[ man] is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

Thou lovest evil more than good;[ and] lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.Then one of them,[ which was] a lawyer, asked[ him a question], tempting him, and saying,

When Herod the king had heard[ these things], he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

And they watched[ him], and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill[ him].

When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
