Listen to the filth that comes from their mouths; their words cut like swords.“ After all, who can hear us?” they sneer.

莠言自口、譬諸利劍、自謂人不及知兮。

口出惡言、唇如利刃、自言何人聽聞、

群犬晚歸兮。舉狺狺而吠予。

See what they spew from their mouths— the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think,“ Who can hear us?”

Listen to what pours out of their mouths. The words from their lips are like swords. They think,“ Who can hear us?”

There they are, bellowing with their mouths with swords in their lips— for“ Who,” they think,“ will hear us?”

Look, they spew from their mouths— sharp words from their lips.“ For who,” they say,“ will hear?”

Behold, they gush forth with their mouths; Swords are in their lips, For, they say,“ Who hears?”

Indeed, they belch with their mouth; Swords are in their lips; For they say,“ Who hears?”

Behold, they belch out with their mouth; Swords are in their lips: For who, say they, doth hear?

Look, they spew from their mouths— sharp words from their lips.“ For who,” they say,“ will hear?”

Look, they hurl insults at me and openly threaten to kill me, for they say,“ Who hears?”

I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey— whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords.

The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.

The wicked think,“ God isn’t watching us! He has closed his eyes and won’t even see what we do!”

“ What does God know?” they ask.“ Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”

Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.

How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?

“ Have you noticed what people are saying?—‘ The Lord chose Judah and Israel and then abandoned them!’ They are sneering and saying that Israel is not worthy to be counted as a nation.

You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.

while the wicked slander me and tell lies about me.They surround me with hateful words and fight against me for no reason.

His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war. His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers!

Why do the wicked get away with despising God? They think,“ God will never call us to account.”

The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking; the mouth of the wicked overflows with evil words.

“ The Lord isn’t looking,” they say,“ and besides, the God of Israel doesn’t care.”Think again, you fools! When will you finally catch on?Is he deaf— the one who made your ears? Is he blind— the one who formed your eyes?

“ God is so great— higher than the heavens, higher than the farthest stars.But you reply,‘ That’s why God can’t see what I am doing! How can he judge through the thick darkness?

They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows.They shoot from ambush at the innocent, attacking suddenly and fearlessly.They encourage each other to do evil and plan how to set their traps in secret.“ Who will ever notice?” they ask.
