Because of the sinful things they say, because of the evil that is on their lips, let them be captured by their pride, their curses, and their lies.

彼驕泰詭譎、厥口詛咒、求主降罰、適當其罪兮。

其唇邊之言語、即其口中之罪孽、因驕傲、因出詈言誑語、必被拘困、

惟毋遽加剪滅兮。恐吾民因無敵而荒怠。願鼎力以驅逐之兮。使其不復為吾族之害。

For the sins of their mouths, for the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride. For the curses and lies they utter,

They have sinned with their mouths. Their lips have spoken evil words. They have cursed me and lied. Let them be caught in their pride.

You make vows and break them; you kill and steal and commit adultery. There is violence everywhere— one murder after another.

The wicked arrogantly hunt down the poor. Let them be caught in the evil they plan for others.

And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

O deceptive tongue, what will God do to you? How will he increase your punishment?You will be pierced with sharp arrows and burned with glowing coals.

The godliness of good people rescues them; the ambition of treacherous people traps them.

Then they became insistent.“ But he is causing riots by his teaching wherever he goes— all over Judea, from Galilee to Jerusalem!”

O Lord, pay back our neighbors seven times for the scorn they have hurled at you.

On that day you will no longer need to be ashamed, for you will no longer be rebels against me. I will remove all proud and arrogant people from among you. There will be no more haughtiness on my holy mountain.

He loved to curse others; now you curse him. He never blessed others; now don’t you bless him.Cursing is as natural to him as his clothing, or the water he drinks, or the rich food he eats.

Let my enemies be destroyed by the very evil they have planned for me.Let burning coals fall down on their heads. Let them be thrown into the fire or into watery pits from which they can’t escape.

if you have trapped yourself by your agreement and are caught by what you said—

And all the people yelled back,“ We will take responsibility for his death— we and our children!”

But God himself will shoot them with his arrows, suddenly striking them down.Their own tongues will ruin them, and all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.

They told him,“ Sir, we remember what that deceiver once said while he was still alive:‘ After three days I will rise from the dead.’
