荊棘為薪、其釜未熱、青者、焦者、俱為旋風吹去兮、

束荊為炊、釜甑未熟、或青或枯、為大風吹去兮。

爾曹以荊棘為炊、鍋猶未熱、其中物尚生、驟被狂風吹去、

願其如蝸牛之消形兮。載行載滅。願其如胚胎之流產兮。不見天日。

Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns— whether they be green or dry— the wicked will be swept away.

Evil people will be swept away before burning thorns can heat a pot. And it doesn’t matter if the thorns are green or dry.

Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns, whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!

God will sweep them away, both young and old, faster than a pot heats over burning thorns.

Before your pots can feel the fire of thorns He will sweep them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.

Before your pots can feel the burning thorns, He shall take them away as with a whirlwind, As in His living and burning wrath.

for like the crackling of burning thorns under the pot, so is the laughter of the fool. This too is futile.

The nations rage like the rumble of a huge torrent. He rebukes them, and they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills and like tumbleweeds before a gale.

They are barely planted, barely sown, their stem hardly takes root in the ground when he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind carries them away like stubble.

Look, a storm from the LORD! Wrath has gone out, a whirling storm. It will whirl about the heads of the wicked.

But if the LORD brings about something unprecedented, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them along with all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into Sheol, then you will know that these men have despised the LORD.”

An east wind picks him up, and he is gone; it carries him away from his place.

when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and stress overcome you.

God, you will bring them down to the Pit of destruction; men of bloodshed and treachery will not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.

His ways are always secure; your lofty judgments have no effect on him; he scoffs at all his adversaries.

The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.

Indeed, you put them in slippery places; you make them fall into ruin.How suddenly they become a desolation! They come to an end, swept away by terrors.Like one waking from a dream, Lord, when arising, you will despise their image.

He is driven from light to darkness and chased from the inhabited world.

the joy of the wicked has been brief and the happiness of the godless has lasted only a moment?Though his arrogance reaches heaven, and his head touches the clouds,he will vanish forever like his own dung. Those who know him will ask,“ Where is he?”He will fly away like a dream and never be found; he will be chased away like a vision in the night.The eye that saw him will see him no more, and his household will no longer see him.His children will beg from the poor, for his own hands must give back his wealth.His frame may be full of youthful vigor, but it will lie down with him in dust.Though evil tastes sweet in his mouth and he conceals it under his tongue,though he cherishes it and will not let it go but keeps it in his mouth,yet the food in his stomach turns into cobras’ venom inside him.He swallows wealth but must vomit it up; God will force it from his stomach.He will suck the poison of cobras; a viper’s fangs will kill him.He will not enjoy the streams, the rivers flowing with honey and curds.He must return the fruit of his labor without consuming it; he doesn’t enjoy the profits from his trading.For he oppressed and abandoned the poor; he seized a house he did not build.Because his appetite is never satisfied, he does not let anything he desires escape.Nothing is left for him to consume; therefore, his prosperity will not last.At the height of his success distress will come to him; the full weight of misery will crush him.When he fills his stomach, God will send his burning anger against him, raining it down on him while he is eating.If he flees from an iron weapon, an arrow from a bronze bow will pierce him.He pulls it out of his back, the flashing tip out of his liver. Terrors come over him.Total darkness is reserved for his treasures. A fire unfanned by human hands will consume him; it will feed on what is left in his tent.The heavens will expose his iniquity, and the earth will rise up against him.The possessions in his house will be removed, flowing away on the day of God’s anger.This is the wicked person’s lot from God, the inheritance God ordained for him.

In arrogance the wicked relentlessly pursue their victims; let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.
