Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll— are they not in your record?

Make a record of my sadness. List my tears in your book. Aren’t you making a record of them?

You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?

You yourself have recorded my wanderings. Put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?

You have taken account of my miseries; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?

You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?

Thou numberest my wanderings: Put thou my tears into thy bottle; Are they not in thy book?

You Yourself have recorded my wanderings. Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your records?

You keep track of my misery. Put my tears in your leather container! Are they not recorded in your scroll?

You count my wanderings. You put my tears into your container. Aren’t they in your book?

Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cries for help! Don’t ignore my tears. For I am your guest— a traveler passing through, as my ancestors were before me.

Then those who feared the Lord spoke with each other, and the Lord listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and always thought about the honor of his name.

“ Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him,‘ This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord.

And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.

For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth.

Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy.They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.

In all their suffering he also suffered, and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years.

So David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. My friends scorn me, but I pour out my tears to God.

They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf:

I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.

The Lord had defeated the gods of Egypt that night with great acts of judgment!After leaving Rameses, the Israelites set up camp at Succoth.Then they left Succoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness.They left Etham and turned back toward Pi hahiroth, opposite Baal zephon, and camped near Migdol.They left Pi hahiroth and crossed the Red Sea into the wilderness beyond. You must destroy all their carved and molten images and demolish all their pagan shrines.Take possession of the land and settle in it, because I have given it to you to occupy.You must distribute the land among the clans by sacred lot and in proportion to their size. A larger portion of land will be allotted to each of the larger clans, and a smaller portion will be allotted to each of the smaller clans. The decision of the sacred lot is final. In this way, the portions of land will be divided among your ancestral tribes.But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live.And I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”

So David escaped and went to Ramah to see Samuel, and he told him all that Saul had done to him. Then Samuel took David with him to live at Naioth.

But David kept thinking to himself,“ Someday Saul is going to get me. The best thing I can do is escape to the Philistines. Then Saul will stop hunting for me in Israelite territory, and I will finally be safe.”
