I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

Those who surround me proudly rear their heads; may the mischief of their lips engulf them.May burning coals fall on them; may they be thrown into the fire, into miry pits, never to rise.May slanderers not be established in the land; may disaster hunt down the violent.

Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made.The trouble they cause recoils on them; their violence comes down on their own heads.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will not go free.

I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.

But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down.He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars— they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay; the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.

He is torn from the security of his tent and marched off to the king of terrors.

I will depose you from your office, and you will be ousted from your position.

Save me, Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.

that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.

I said,“ I will not again see the Lord himself in the land of the living; no longer will I look on my fellow man, or be with those who now dwell in this world.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will perish.

“ He answered,‘ Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family,for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

Though the pride of the godless person reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds,he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say,‘ Where is he?’
