For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.

I know the lawless acts I’ve committed. I can’t forget my sin.

For I am conscious of my rebellion, and my sin is always before me.

For I know my wrongdoings, And my sin is constantly before me.

For our sins are piled up before God and testify against us. Yes, we know what sinners we are.

But I confess my sins; I am deeply sorry for what I have done.

People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself,“ I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude

I will go home to my father and say,“ Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you,and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’“ So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.His son said to him,‘ Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.’

“ But at last my people will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors for betraying me and being hostile toward me.When I have turned their hostility back on them and brought them to the land of their enemies, then at last their stubborn hearts will be humbled, and they will pay for their sins.

He will declare to his friends,‘ I sinned and twisted the truth, but it was not worth it.

For troubles surround me— too many to count! My sins pile up so high I can’t see my way out. They outnumber the hairs on my head. I have lost all courage.
