“ Listen, my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel: I am God, your God.

“ O my people, listen as I speak. Here are my charges against you, O Israel: I am God, your God!

Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: I am God, even thy God.

“ Listen, My people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel. I am God, your God.

He says:“ Listen my people! I am speaking! Listen Israel! I am accusing you! I am God, your God!

“ Hear, my people, and I will speak. Israel, I will testify against you. I am God, your God.

Listen, my people, and I will admonish you. Israel, if you would only listen to me!

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.

Therefore write down this song for yourselves and teach it to the Israelites; have them sing it, so that this song may be a witness for me against the Israelites.When I bring them into the land I swore to give their ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey, they will eat their fill and prosper. They will turn to other gods and worship them, despising me and breaking my covenant.And when many troubles and afflictions come to them, this song will testify against them, because their descendants will not have forgotten it. For I know what they are prone to do, even before I bring them into the land I swore to give them.”

“ Come, let’s settle this,” says the LORD.“ Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool.

The LORD will not abandon his people, because of his great name and because he has determined to make you his own people.“ As for me, I vow that I will not sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you. I will teach you the good and right way.Above all, fear the LORD and worship him faithfully with all your heart; consider the great things he has done for you.However, if you continue to do what is evil, both you and your king will be swept away.”

Hear the word of the LORD, house of Jacob and all families of the house of Israel.This is what the LORD says: What fault did your ancestors find in me that they went so far from me, followed worthless idols, and became worthless themselves?

I am the LORD your God. Follow my statutes, keep my ordinances, and practice them.Keep my Sabbaths holy, and they will be a sign between me and you, so you may know that I am the LORD your God.”

Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who inhabit the world,

I am the LORD your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.“ But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel did not obey me.So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own plans.

So the LORD his God handed Ahaz over to the king of Aram. He attacked him and took many captives to Damascus. Ahaz was also handed over to the king of Israel, who struck him with great force:

Now listen to what the LORD is saying: Rise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your complaint.Listen to the LORD’s lawsuit, you mountains and enduring foundations of the earth, because the LORD has a case against his people, and he will argue it against Israel.My people, what have I done to you, or how have I wearied you? Testify against me!Indeed, I brought you up from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from that place of slavery. I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam ahead of you.My people, remember what King Balak of Moab proposed, what Balaam son of Beor answered him, and what happened from the Acacia Grove to Gilgal so that you may acknowledge the LORD’s righteous acts.What should I bring before the LORD when I come to bow before God on high? Should I come before him with burnt offerings, with year-old calves?Would the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams or with ten thousand streams of oil? Should I give my firstborn for my transgression, the offspring of my body for my own sin?Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the LORD requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.

Now if you will carefully listen to me and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession out of all the peoples, although the whole earth is mine,and you will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites.”

Say to them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: On the day I chose Israel, I swore an oath to the descendants of Jacob’s house and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt. I swore to them, saying,“ I am the LORD your God.”

You warned them to turn back to your law, but they acted arrogantly and would not obey your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, which a person will live by if he does them. They stubbornly resisted, stiffened their necks, and would not obey.You were patient with them for many years, and your Spirit warned them through your prophets, but they would not listen. Therefore, you handed them over to the surrounding peoples.

Still, the LORD warned Israel and Judah through every prophet and every seer, saying,“ Turn from your evil ways and keep my commands and statutes according to the whole law I commanded your ancestors and sent to you through my servants the prophets.”

Therefore, I will bring a case against you again. This is the LORD’s declaration. I will bring a case against your children’s children.

“ I will come to you in judgment, and I will be ready to witness against sorcerers and adulterers; against those who swear falsely; against those who oppress the hired worker, the widow, and the fatherless; and against those who deny justice to the resident alien. They do not fear me,” says the LORD of Armies.

I will put this third through the fire; I will refine them as silver is refined and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say,‘ They are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The LORD is our God.’”

Today you have affirmed that the LORD is your God and that you will walk in his ways, keep his statutes, commands, and ordinances, and obey him.And today the LORD has affirmed that you are his own possession as he promised you, that you are to keep all his commands,

I also said to them,“ Throw away, each of you, the abhorrent things that you prize, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”
