You use your mouth to speak evil. You use your tongue to spread lies.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind,but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.

You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!

The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good.Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong.

They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.They shoot from ambush at the innocent; they shoot suddenly, without fear.They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say,“ Who will see it?”
