I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.

Then God said,“ Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.And God blessed them, saying,“ Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?

“ If I cause wild beasts to pass through the land, and they empty it, and make it so desolate that no man may pass through because of the beasts,even though these three men were in it, as I live,” says the Lord GOD,“ they would deliver neither sons nor daughters; only they would be delivered, and the land would be desolate.

Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

“ Does the hawk fly by your wisdom, And spread its wings toward the south?Does the eagle mount up at your command, And make its nest on high?On the rock it dwells and resides, On the crag of the rock and the stronghold.From there it spies out the prey; Its eyes observe from afar.Its young ones suck up blood; And where the slain are, there it is.”

“ The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s?For she leaves her eggs on the ground, And warms them in the dust;She forgets that a foot may crush them, Or that a wild beast may break them.She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers; Her labor is in vain, without concern,Because God deprived her of wisdom, And did not endow her with understanding.When she lifts herself on high, She scorns the horse and its rider.

By them the birds of the heavens have their home; They sing among the branches.

All you beasts of the field, come to devour, All you beasts in the forest.

He gives to the beast its food, And to the young ravens that cry.

Who provides food for the raven, When its young ones cry to God, And wander about for lack of food?
