以致可以永远活着，不进坟墓。

使他永远活着，不见朽坏。

好使他永久存活，不看到阴坑。

不能壽世而體不朽兮、

不能使之永久存活、不見朽壞、

生命無價寶。非財所能市。

so that they should live on forever and not see decay.

No one can pay enough to live forever and not rot in the grave.

that he should live on forever and never see the pit.

so that he may live forever and not see the Pit.

That he might live on eternally, That he might not undergo decay.

That he should continue to live eternally, And not see the Pit.

That he should still live alway, That he should not see corruption.

so that he may live forever and not see the Pit.

That he should still live for ever,[ and] not see corruption.

so that he might continue to live forever and not experience death.

No one can live forever; all will die. No one can escape the power of the grave. Interlude

For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.

Let the rich of the earth feast and worship. Bow before him, all who are mortal, all whose lives will end as dust.

Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.

None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked.

“ Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet. The rich man also died and was buried,and he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.

Another psalm explains it more fully:‘ You will not allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.’This is not a reference to David, for after David had done the will of God in his own generation, he died and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed.No, it was a reference to someone else— someone whom God raised and whose body did not decay.

For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.

and God has now fulfilled it for us, their descendants, by raising Jesus. This is what the second psalm says about Jesus:‘ You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.’

“ Where are your ancestors now? They and the prophets are long dead.

David was looking into the future and speaking of the Messiah’s resurrection. He was saying that God would not leave him among the dead or allow his body to rot in the grave.

Tainted wealth has no lasting value, but right living can save your life.

I tell you the truth, anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!”The people said,“ Now we know you are possessed by a demon. Even Abraham and the prophets died, but you say,‘ Anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!’
