豈知人在榮華、不能永久、無異滅亡之畜類、

意謂基業固。第宅保萬世。孳孳求田舍。瑣瑣標名字。

People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like the beasts that perish.

Even though people may be very rich, they don’t live on and on. They are like the animals. They die.

Man in his pomp will not remain; he is like the beasts that perish.

But despite his assets, mankind will not last; he is like the animals that perish.

But man in his splendor will not endure; He is like the animals that perish.

Nevertheless man, though in honor, does not remain; He is like the beasts that perish.

But man being in honor abideth not: He is like the beasts that perish.

But despite his assets, man will not last; he is like the animals that perish.

I also thought about the human condition— how God proves to people that they are like animals.For people and animals share the same fate— both breathe and both must die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless!Both go to the same place— they came from dust and they return to dust.For who can prove that the human spirit goes up and the spirit of animals goes down into the earth?

People who boast of their wealth don’t understand; they will die, just like animals.

You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.” Interlude

But you will die like mere mortals and fall like every other ruler.’”

As the Scriptures say,“ People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades.

People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.

And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field.The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements.
