豈知人在榮華、不能永久、無異滅亡之畜類、

意謂基業固。第宅保萬世。孳孳求田舍。瑣瑣標名字。

People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like the beasts that perish.

Even though people may be very rich, they don’t live on and on. They are like the animals. They die.

Man in his pomp will not remain; he is like the beasts that perish.

but their fame will not last. They will die, just like animals.

But despite his assets, mankind will not last; he is like the animals that perish.

Nevertheless man, though in honor, does not remain; He is like the beasts that perish.

But man being in honor abideth not: He is like the beasts that perish.

I said to myself regarding the sons of mankind,“ God is testing them in order for them to see that they are as animals, they to themselves.”For the fate of the sons of mankind and the fate of animals is the same. As one dies, so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath, and there is no advantage for mankind over animals, for all is futility.All go to the same place. All came from the dust and all return to the dust.Who knows that the spirit of the sons of mankind ascends upward and the spirit of the animal descends downward to the earth?

Mankind in its splendor, yet without understanding, Is like the animals that perish.

Behold, You have made my days like hand widths, And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Certainly all mankind standing is a mere breath. Selah

Nevertheless you will die like men, And fall like one of the princes.”

For,“ All flesh is like grass, And all its glory is like the flower of grass. The grass withers, And the flower falls off,

For indeed, a person does not know his time: like fish that are caught in a treacherous net and birds caught in a snare, so the sons of mankind are ensnared at an evil time when it suddenly falls on them.

but the rich person is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so also the rich person, in the midst of his pursuits, will die out.
