Surely one sees that even wise people die; fools and spiritually insensitive people all pass away and leave their wealth to others.

賢者必死、愚者昧者、亦必滅亡、將貨財留於他人、此乃常見之事、

永生與不朽。人力寧能致。

For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others.

Everyone can see that even wise people die. People who are foolish and who have no sense also pass away. All of them leave their wealth to others.

For he sees that even the wise die; the fool and the stupid alike must perish and leave their wealth to others.

Those who are wise must finally die, just like the foolish and senseless, leaving all their wealth behind.

For one can see that the wise die; the foolish and stupid also pass away. Then they leave their wealth to others.

Take notice of this, you ignorant people! You fools, when will you ever understand?

I was ignorant and lacked insight; I was as senseless as an animal before you.

And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,

Surely I am more brutish than any other human being, and I do not have human understanding;

The person who gathers wealth by unjust means is like the partridge that broods over eggs but does not hatch them. Before his life is half over he will lose his ill-gotten gains. At the end of his life it will be clear he was a fool.”

The spiritually insensitive do not recognize this; the fool does not understand this.When the wicked sprout up like grass, and all the evildoers glisten, it is so that they may be annihilated.

So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people because all sinned–for before the law was given, sin was in the world, but there is no accounting for sin when there is no law.Yet death reigned from Adam until Moses even over those who did not sin in the same way that Adam( who is a type of the coming one) transgressed.

For the wise man, like the fool, will not be remembered for very long, because in the days to come, both will already have been forgotten. Alas, the wise man dies– just like the fool!So I loathed life because what happens on earth seems awful to me; for all the benefits of wisdom are futile– like chasing the wind.So I loathed all the fruit of my effort, for which I worked so hard on earth, because I must leave it behind in the hands of my successor.Who knows if he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will be master over all the fruit of my labor for which I worked so wisely on earth! This also is futile!So I began to despair about all the fruit of my labor for which I worked so hard on earth.For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge, and skill; however, he must hand over the fruit of his labor as an inheritance to someone else who did not work for it. This also is futile, and an awful injustice!

The people of those nations are both stupid and foolish. Instruction from a wooden idol is worthless!

So I reflected on all this, attempting to clear it all up. I concluded that the righteous and the wise, as well as their works, are in the hand of God; whether a person will be loved or hated– no one knows what lies ahead.Everyone shares the same fate– the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the ceremonially clean and unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. What happens to the good person, also happens to the sinner; what happens to those who make vows, also happens to those who are afraid to make vows.

Here is a misfortune on earth that I have seen: Wealth hoarded by its owner to his own misery.Then that wealth was lost through bad luck; although he fathered a son, he has nothing left to give him.Just as he came forth from his mother’s womb, naked will he return as he came, and he will take nothing in his hand that he may carry away from his toil.This is another misfortune: Just as he came, so will he go. What did he gain from toiling for the wind?

The one who loves discipline loves knowledge, but the one who hates reproof is stupid.

For to the one who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy, but to the sinner, he gives the task of amassing wealth– only to give it to the one who pleases God. This task of the wicked is futile– like chasing the wind!

Wealth does not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from mortal danger.

LORD, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring.

For he will take nothing with him when he dies; his wealth will not follow him down into the grave.

Now godliness combined with contentment brings great profit.For we have brought nothing into this world and so we cannot take a single thing out either.But if we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that.Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is the root of all evils. Some people in reaching for it have strayed from the faith and stabbed themselves with many pains.
