For the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, is he who touches the land and it melts, and all who dwell in it will mourn; and it will rise up wholly like the River, and will sink again, like the River of Egypt.

Yahweh also thundered in the sky. The Most High uttered his voice: hailstones and coals of fire.

They said to Joshua,“ Truly Yahweh has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”

She said to the men,“ I know that Yahweh has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.

The mountains melt like wax at the presence of Yahweh, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

They have helped the children of Lot. Selah.

“ Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,“ that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the one treading grapes him who sows seed; and sweet wine will drip from the mountains, and flow from the hills.

The mountains melt under him, and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like waters that are poured down a steep place.

When they had finished the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy each other.When Judah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they looked at the multitude; and behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none who escaped.

The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

He said:“ Yahweh will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds will mourn, and the top of Carmel will wither.”

“ Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and tell them,“‘ Yahweh will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation. He will mightily roar against his fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.

Plague went before him, and pestilence followed his feet.He stood, and shook the earth. He looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains were crumbled. The age- old hills collapsed. His ways are eternal.

As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, and there wasn’t any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Yahweh your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.

Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million troops and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.Asa cried to Yahweh his God, and said,“ Yahweh, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Yahweh thunders his voice before his army; for his forces are very great; for he is strong who obeys his command; for the day of Yahweh is great and very awesome, and who can endure it?

After this, the children of Moab, the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

They will ponder you, saying,“ Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms,

To him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which are of old; behold, he utters his voice, a mighty voice.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.By your servants, you have defied the Lord, and have said,“ With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon. I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypress trees. I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field.I have dug and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt.”“‘ Have you not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it in ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to destroy fortified cities, turning them into ruinous heaps.Therefore their inhabitants had little power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field, and like the green herb, like the grass on the housetops, and like a field before its crop has grown.But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me.Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.“‘ This shall be the sign to you. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.’“ Therefore Yahweh says concerning the king of Assyria,‘ He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither will he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.He will return the way that he came, and he won’t come to this city,’ says Yahweh.‘ For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.’”Then Yahweh’s angel went out and struck one hundred and eighty- five thousand men in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
